HIGH HOLY DAYS WORSHIP 2019

Saturday, September 21 | 7 pm

Havdallah, Study and Ritual – NEW!

Selichot literally means “forgiveness.”  To prepare for the intensity of the High Holy Days, we begin the week before with the ritual of Selichot.  This ritual begins the spiritual work of the High Holy Days: to process where we fell short this past year and work on aspirations for the coming year.

Selichot will be particularly meaningful this year as we join for Havdallah, study and ritual in the personal setting of a member’s home this year.

Sunday, September 29 | 8 pm

We join together to usher in Rosh Hashanah, our spiritual New Year. During this time we reflect on the ways we can become our best selves.  The apex of this service is the singing of Avinu Malkeinu, in which we call out to God for renewal.

Rosh Hashanah – Monday, September 30

10 am | Morning Service

During this service, we contemplate the past year and give thanks for the opportunities to come. The Torah will be read, and the Shofar sounded. During the service, there will be care for our younger children, with Jewish activities for babies and children. All children will be invited into the sanctuary to hear the sounding of the shofar

Please register for children’s activities and babysitting at ksellars@suburbantemple.org or 216.991.0700.

10 am | Come Grow With Me! NEW!

You’ve come to love Come Grow With Me! on Shabbat—now on Rosh Hashanah! For our youngest members and their parents. Following the service, the New Year experience continues at Torah Tots for children, and in the Sanctuary for adults.

2:30 pm | TashlichNEW TIME!

Everyone is welcome at this brief ritual in which we symbolically cast our sins into water. An informal, meaningful and family (and dog) friendly experience! This year's Tashlich will be held at Cleveland Metroparks Sulphur Springs Picnic Area in Bentleyville, OH.

3 pm | Rosh Hashanah Family Experience: Get New Again! – NEW!

For families with grade school children, this informal Rosh Hashanah program will explore through music and learning the meaning of Rosh Hashanah. It will be in the same location as Tashlich!

Tuesday, October 8 | 8 pm

During this highlight of the High Holy Day season, the lights are dimmed, the Torahs removed, and the plaintive melody of Kol Nidre calls us to reflect on the strength of our promises and to work on becoming our best selves.

Yom Kippur – Wednesday, October 9

10 am | Morning Service
